BTS Jin's 'The Astronaut' Dominates Argentina's Vega Radio for 50 Consecutive Weeks; Commemorative Video Released
BTS's Jin's track "The Astronaut" has shone brightly by securing the number one spot for 50 consecutive weeks on a popular radio channel in Argentina.
Jin's debut solo single "The Astronaut" recently clinched the top spot on Argentina's "Vega Radio" in the "KPOP TOP40 Ranking" with an overwhelming vote count of over 70,000, maintaining its number one position for 50 weeks. As of 5 a.m. on October 14 (KST), it continues to hold the top spot with 74,305 votes, and the count is rapidly increasing.
Vega Radio, through their official Twitter account, shared, "Here's a video commemorating 'The Astronaut' by Jin, which has achieved 50 consecutive weeks at number one on 'KPOP TOP40'. This is dedicated to all ARMYs." They released a YouTube video in celebration. Jin's "The Astronaut," which has set unparalleled records and popularity on Vega Radio, caught attention last August when the reasons for its top position in the "KPOP TOP40 Ranking" were analyzed in-depth.
Vega Radio commented, "We'd like to briefly explain why 'The Astronaut' by Jin, almost a year since its release, still holds the top spot on KPOP TOP40. We at Vega Radio believe 'The Astronaut' transcends the K-pop genre and is a musical phenomenon. This track, a collaboration between BTS's Jin and the iconic group Coldplay, evokes the music culture of the 1980s pop, rock, and synthwave. Such elements ensure that this song will continue to appeal to music fans of various ages and remain a beloved hit." They did not hold back their praises.
Released on October 28th last year, "The Astronaut" was a gift from Jin to fans before his military enlistment. Upon its release, it received explosive reactions worldwide. The official music video and Jin's guest appearance in a live performance with Coldplay in Argentina became topics of discussion, not only among fans but also as reaction content by popular YouTubers. The song has also been widely covered and used as instrumental music, further showcasing Jin's immense global popularity and influence.
Even 11 months after its release, Jin's "The Astronaut" continues to resonate and move hearts worldwide. It has achieved 250 million streams on Spotify, topped the iTunes charts in 107 countries, and continues to set dazzling records on various music charts, proving its undiminished global popularity despite Jin's military service.
