NewJeans' 'Get Up' Marks 10 Weeks on 'Billboard 200,' Setting a New Record for 4th Generation K-pop Girl Groups
The rising girl group sensation 'NewJeans' continues to dominate with their second mini-album 'Get Up' on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, 'Billboard 200'.
According to Billboard on October 3rd (local time), NewJeans' 'Get Up' secured the 60th spot on the 'Billboard 200' chart dated the 7th. Although it dropped 18 places from its position last week at 42, it has consistently remained in the top 60 for 10 consecutive weeks. The album immediately topped the chart upon its debut. NewJeans became the second K-pop girl group to achieve the number one spot on this chart.
'Get Up' is setting various records for K-pop girl groups on the 'Billboard 200'. Three weeks ago, it became the first K-pop girl group album to stay in the top 30 of the chart for seven consecutive weeks. By staying on the chart for 10 consecutive weeks, it has now set a new record for the longest-charting 4th generation K-pop girl group album.
Currently, the K-pop girl group album that has stayed the longest on the 'Billboard 200' is BLACKPINK's first full album 'THE ALBUM', which remained on the chart for a total of 26 weeks. BLACKPINK's second full album 'Born Pink' charted for 13 weeks, while TWICE's 12th mini-album 'Ready to Be' charted for 11 weeks. NewJeans' 'Get Up' follows closely behind.
NewJeans' 'Get Up' is also performing well on various other Billboard album sub-charts. Notably, it held the number one spot on the 'Billboard World Albums' chart for nine weeks, setting a new record for the longest number one position by a K-pop girl group. It also reached the top 10 on both the Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts.
The album's tracks have had a long stay on one of Billboard's major charts, the 'Global 200'. The pre-released track and one of the triple title songs, 'Super Shy', secured the 30th spot and has remained for 12 weeks. Another title track, 'ETA', held the 74th position for 10 weeks. The previously released song 'OMG' has maintained its position on the chart for 39 weeks at 177th.
