BTS's V Dominates 'M Countdown' for 5th Week, Despite No Appearance; Japanese Band 'YOASOBI' Steals the Spotlight
BTS's V has added another trophy to his collection from 'M Countdown'. On the Mnet music program 'M Countdown' aired on the 21st, V clinched the top spot for the third week of September with his new song 'Slow Dancing', marking his 5th consecutive week at number one.
Despite not making a live appearance on the show, V's win further solidified his status as a 'global top star'.
The episode of 'M Countdown' featured performances from RIIZE, Rocket Punch, Mimirose, BOYNEXTDOOR, Blackswan, Signature, APOKI, Elzup, YOASOBI, Even, Lee Chaeyeon, Jaechan, and JO1. Additionally, Cravity, Key, Tempest, Trendy, POW, FANTASY BOYS, Purple Kiss, High-Q, Hur Youngji, and Hwasa graced the stage.
Notably, the performance by the Japanese duo YOASOBI garnered significant attention. YOASOBI presented a live performance of 'アイドル' (Idol), the OST from the widely discussed Korean drama 'Favorite Child'.
Vocalist Ikuta Rira stunned viewers with her exceptional vocal prowess, reminiscent of the original track. Throughout her performance, Rira reveled in the warm reception from the audience, striking various poses and proving the duo's popularity amidst the Hallyu wave. After the performance, she expressed her gratitude in Korean, saying "Thank you," and even showcased a playful heart gesture.
YOASOBI, consisting of Ayase and Ikura, is a mixed duo that previously topped the domestic YouTube music charts with their OST for the popular animation 'Favorite Child'.
