BTS's Jungkook's 'Seven' Dominates Billboard Global Charts: Record 8-Week Streak at #1
BTS's Jungkook has showcased his enduring popularity by securing the #1 spot for eight consecutive weeks on the U.S. Billboard Global chart with his track "Seven."
According to the latest chart released by the U.S. music authority Billboard (dated September 16th), Jungkook's solo single "Seven" clinched the top position on the 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' chart.
Following "Seven" at #1, global pop stars' hits trailed behind with Doja Cat's "Paint The Town Red" at #2, Myke Towers' "LALA" at #3, Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer" at #4, and Dua Lipa's "Dance The Night" at #5.
Notably, Jungkook set a historic record by staying at #1 on the 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' chart for an unprecedented eight consecutive weeks, the longest for any Asian artist. "Seven" is also the first song of 2023 to achieve this feat.
"Seven" also made its mark on the 'Global 200' chart, securing the #2 spot, showcasing its powerful and robust streaming performance.
In just one week, "Seven" recorded an astonishing 83.8 million streams on the 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' chart, demonstrating its sustained popularity and immense streaming power.
Recently, "Seven" was also crowned the 'Global Song of the Summer for 2023' by Billboard based on its performance on the 'Global 200' chart.
Additionally, as of September 16th, the song has consistently entered the main singles chart 'Hot 100' for eight consecutive weeks, showcasing its overwhelming long-term performance on the world's leading music indicator, Billboard. "Seven" had previously debuted at #1 on the 'Hot 100' chart.
Earlier, "Seven" set a debut record on the Billboard 'Global 200' chart with the 'most' weekly streams for a solo artist at 217.1 million and the highest weekly sales among global groups and solo artists at 269,000.
Furthermore, on the 'Global 200' chart, Jungkook became the first male artist worldwide to achieve over 100 million streams for five consecutive weeks. He also set a new record as the first to achieve over 100 million streams for four consecutive weeks since the inception of the 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' chart.
Beyond Billboard, "Seven" maintained its position within the top 30 on the UK's Official Singles 'Top 100' chart for eight consecutive weeks. On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, "Seven" set a record as the first and longest-running Asian artist to achieve #1 on both 'Daily Top Songs Global' and 'Weekly Top Songs Global', holding the top spot for 57 days.
Meanwhile, at the '2023 MTV Video Music Awards' (MTV VMA) held on September 13th (KST), Jungkook won the 'Song of Summer' category with "Seven," marking the first win for a Korean solo artist in this category.
