BTS's Jin's 'The Astronaut' Sets Record on Japan's Shazam: Longest #1 Streak for an International Artist
BTS's Jin has illuminated his popularity by setting the record for the longest #1 streak on Shazam, the world's largest music search platform, in Japan.
As of September 14th, Jin's debut solo single "The Astronaut" clinched the top spot on Shazam's 'Japan TOP200' chart. With a total of 318 days at #1, this isn't just a K-pop record but also the longest #1 streak for any international artist in the history of Shazam Japan. In Japan, "The Astronaut" surpassed the previous record held by Jin's first solo OST "Yours," which was #1 for 237 days, thereby breaking his own record.
Furthermore, with "The Astronaut" holding the #1 spot for 309 consecutive days and "Yours" for 204 consecutive days, Jin has set an unparalleled record of 513 consecutive days at #1.
With this achievement, Jin has become the artist to hold both the longest and second-longest #1 streaks for an international artist on Shazam's 'Japan TOP 200'. He's also the only K-pop artist to record over 300 consecutive days at #1, solidifying his immense global popularity. Additionally, with "Yours" and then "The Astronaut," Jin has consistently appeared on Shazam's 'Japan Chart' for 676 consecutive days, underscoring his powerful brand presence in Japan.
Jin's "The Astronaut" continues to receive immense love in Thailand as well. As of September 14th, it ranked 3rd on Shazam's 'Thailand TOP 200', marking its 42nd consecutive day in the 'TOP3'. It has also been ranked for a total of 223 days, showcasing its dominance as the 'King of Shazam'.
Upon its release, "The Astronaut" entered Shazam's 'Global TOP 200' chart and recorded a total of 129 days at #1. This surpassed the previous record held by "Yours," which was #1 for 102 days, demonstrating its power by achieving the longest #1 streak in K-pop history. Jin is the first and only K-pop artist to have two solo songs reach #1 and has solidified his unparalleled presence as a global artist with a record of 60 consecutive days at #1.
Following "Yours" and then "The Astronaut," even after his military enlistment, Jin continues to break records, showcasing the robust trajectory of a top-tier solo artist.
