NeonPunch Disbands After Two Years + Three Members To Re-Debut This August
All five members of the NeonPunch girl band have formally declared their disbandment only two years after their debut in the K-pop scene.
The explanation underlying their dissolution was due to the problems running their agency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Three of the members, Dayeon, Baekah, and Iaan, will re-begin as a new group named XUM later this month. May and Dohee, the other two members, decided to halt their operations back in April for academic and personal reasons. Their intentions for potential events are unspecified at this time.
NeonPunch premiered with "MOONLIGHT" in 2018 and attracted prominence because of its sheer and sporty vibes. In January, the group launched their mini-album Watch Out, however, after the COVID-19 disease outbreak, operations were brought to a halt.
The managing label sincerely apologized for the need to disband Neonpunch because of the unforeseen events caused by the COVID-19 pandemic but promised to pay back the fans' love and undying support for Neonpunch as they re-debut three members under the group name XUM.
A100 Entertainment said, "We sincerely apologize to everyone that has been expecting to see the group perform once more completely, and unfortunately, this will no longer be possible. This has been difficult for the agency to handle the band because of COVID-19 and two members suspending operational activities. We intend to go through all the fans who've been waiting for their return with the new group XUM. We would like to thank everyone that has helped Neonpunch for the past three years and hope you will keep supporting the remaining members in XUM" (via Koreaboo)
