GOT7 Teases Fans with New "AHGABONG" Lightstick: A Prelude to a Much-Anticipated Comeback?
In a move that has sent ripples of excitement through the K-pop community, the seven-member boy band GOT7 has announced the release of a new version of its iconic "AHGABONG" lightstick. This announcement comes five years after the second version of the lightstick was introduced to fans.
The updated "AHGABONG" lightstick, set to be available from Friday, September 8, at 2 p.m. KST, showcases a sleek design that prominently features GOT7's signature colors: green and black. The upper section of the lightstick is crafted to resemble a bird, symbolizing the group's fandom, known as "Ahgase" or "baby bird" in English. The lightstick emits a radiant green light and is anchored by a black base adorned with the GOT7 logo.
The announcement, which was made on Twitter, has already garnered significant attention, amassing about 4.2 million views. Fans have been effusive in their praise, with comments ranging from admiration for the lightstick's design to speculation about the band's future plans.
This development has led to fervent discussions among fans about the possibility of a GOT7 comeback or a new tour. It's been over a year since the group's last release, a self-titled 12th mini album in May 2022. This was also their first release after members Jinyoung, Jackson Wang, Mark Tuan, Jay B, Kim Yugyeom, BamBam, and Cho Young-jae parted ways with JYP Entertainment in 2021, following the expiration of their contract.
While the members have been actively pursuing individual projects, BamBam, in a recent interview with CNA Lifestyle, hinted at "big plans" for the group. He teased something "new" on the horizon, emphasizing that it would be more than just an album or a world tour. This revelation has only added fuel to the speculation fire.
In the meantime, the members have been making waves in their respective careers. Mark recently unveiled a new song titled "Everyone Else Fades," accompanied by a music video. Yugyeom marked his solo comeback with the digital single "LOLO." Jinyoung is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service in South Korea. Jackson Wang wrapped up his "Magic Man" world tour in July and graced the stage at the 2023 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. BamBam introduced a full-length album, "Sour & Sweet," under his music label, ABYSS, in March. Jay B also treated fans to a special album, "Seasonal Hiatus," in February 2023.
With the unveiling of the new "AHGABONG" lightstick and the hints dropped by BamBam, fans are on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting what might be the next big announcement from GOT7.
