Singer Hwasa has candidly opened up about her emotional state following a performance controversy that took place four months ago.

On the 4th, Hwasa appeared as a guest on Sung Si-kyung's YouTube channel. With her new song "I Love My Body" set to release on the 6th, she remarked, "The song carries a simple yet profound message. I felt that way because I've been through a lot, especially with the recent controversy surrounding my performance."

Recalling the incident, Hwasa shared, "While on MAMAMOO's US tour, I received a flood of messages on the day we arrived in the US. I prayed before checking them and realized there was a controversy about my on-stage performance. The level of hate comments was overwhelming. I usually don't get affected by hate comments, but this time it was too much." She continued, "After our New York concert, I broke down in tears. The members comforted me, but I couldn't stop crying. It was the hardest I've cried this year."

During this challenging time, Psy reached out to her. "He sent me a song when I was feeling down, even before I signed with P Nation. The song's title itself was so cheerful that it lifted my spirits," Hwasa revealed.

She expressed her desire to address the situation in her music video, saying, "I want to portray these challenging moments in a cheerful and loving manner in the MV. That doesn't mean I'm ignoring the criticism. I accept it all."

Back in May, during a performance at Sungkyunkwan University's festival, Hwasa faced backlash for a suggestive move during her duet song "Don't Give It To Me" with Loco. The controversy escalated when the Student Parent Human Rights Association filed a complaint against her, accusing her of an indecent performance.

Amidst the controversy, Hwasa appeared as a guest in "Psy's Summer Swag 2023" in July, where she calmly stated, "I was more worried about losing my voice than the lawsuit. It's amazing how all worries disappear when you're on stage. I'll continue to draw positive energy and move forward."

However, behind her confident demeanor lay her true emotional turmoil. While some may find Hwasa's performance uncomfortable, excessive hate comments overshadow legitimate criticism. Calls for restraint in online hate are growing louder once again.
