Lee Seung gi's Agency Refutes False Fan Meeting Claims: 'Regrettable Attempts to Tarnish the Artist'
Singer Lee Seung-gi has officially addressed the controversy surrounding his U.S. performance.
On September 4th, Lee Seung-gi's agency, Human Made, stated, "Neither Human Made nor Lee Seung-gi ever agreed to any form of fan meeting at the said restaurant. The restaurant's sponsorship was arranged by the local concert organizer. We are completely unaware of any contractual details between them, especially any financial involvement on our part or the artist's."
The agency further emphasized, "It's regrettable that certain individuals present at the restaurant that day were maliciously portrayed as 'representatives of the entire Korean community in the U.S.' in an attempt to tarnish the artist's reputation."
Adding on, Human Made expressed, "Lee Seung-gi is always deeply grateful to the fans who come to his performances and those who continuously support him. Both our agency and Lee Seung-gi will do our utmost to prevent any misunderstandings with fans in the future."
Previously, ahead of his 'Walking the Boy - Chapter 2' performance at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on the 30th of last month, Lee Seung-gi had planned to visit a restaurant run by a sponsor. However, due to flight delays and health concerns, he sought understanding from the relevant parties and canceled his visit to the restaurant.
However, a Korean-American media outlet reported that "Lee Seung-gi unilaterally canceled his restaurant visit, leaving the officials in a difficult situation," sparking controversy. It was later revealed that Lee Seung-gi had sought understanding before canceling the schedule, and the visit was not an official event but a courtesy visit to the sponsor's restaurant to take photos with the staff, causing fans to express their outrage.
Below is the full statement from Lee Seung-gi's agency:
