BTS Jungkook's 'Seven' Dominates Billboard Global Charts for Record Fifth Consecutive Week: A First for an Asian Solo Artist
BTS's Jungkook continues to shine as he makes history, setting the record for the longest streak at number one on two major Billboard global charts by an Asian solo artist.
According to the latest chart data released on August 26th by the U.S. music magazine Billboard, Jungkook's solo single 'Seven' has once again secured the top spot on both the 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' charts.
With 'Seven', Jungkook has ascended to the pinnacle of these two charts-which calculate rankings based on streaming and sales in over 200 countries and regions-for an impressive fifth consecutive week.
His achievement in simultaneously topping both the 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' charts for five straight weeks is unprecedented and the longest run for any Asian solo artist, further enhancing his reputation as a "Billboard Record Setter."
Furthermore, 'Seven' has demonstrated remarkable staying power on the 'Global 200' chart. Following Miley Cyrus's 'Flowers', it is the second song this year, and notably, the first ever for both K-pop groups and solo artists, to reign for five consecutive weeks. The song also boasted an astounding 143 million streams during its fifth week.
In addition, 'Seven' made a grand entrance at number one on the Billboard 'Hot 100' main singles chart, maintaining a strong presence in the top 30 for five weeks with positions at 9th, 30th, 28th, and 30th in subsequent weeks.
Previously, 'Seven' shattered debut records on the 'Global 200' chart, with an incredible 217.1 million streams in a week and the highest weekly sales for any global group or solo artist at 269,000 units. Beyond this, the song achieved unparalleled success on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform. It reached 100 million streams (pre-filtering) in a record-breaking six days and achieved subsequent milestones of 200 million in 14 days, 300 million in 23 days, and 400 million in 33 days.
On Spotify's 'Daily Top Songs Global' chart, 'Seven' has remained unbeaten for an unmatched 38 days-the longest for any Asian artist, outpacing combined achievements of all other Asian groups and solo artists.
In other noteworthy achievements, Jungkook has previously charted on the 'Hot 100' with his solo tracks 'Stay Alive' and 'My Time', reaching 95th and 84th positions respectively. He also collaborated with American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth on 'Left and Right', which marked an exceptional 17-week consecutive run on the 'Hot 100', a first and longest streak for a K-pop idol.
