On August 8, BLACKPINK celebrated their 7th debut anniversary. Members (Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé) expressed their strong bond and gratitude towards fans by posting congratulatory messages on their social networking services.

Given their global popularity, the entertainment industry and fans worldwide are curious about the group's next move regarding their contract renewals. This has sparked various speculations and rumors.

Amidst growing curiosity about whether the group will continue their journey beyond the "Mystical 7th Year," a Chinese media outlet, '8world', reported that YG Entertainment has successfully secured a "group-wide contract renewal."

According to '8world', news spread on the Chinese social networking service 'Weibo' that all BLACKPINK members had re-signed with YG Entertainment.

However, a few days prior on Weibo, rumors surfaced that Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa had decided not to renew, with only Rosé confirming her contract renewal.

In fact, on the 12th of the previous month, a Korean media outlet 'Munhwa Ilbo' highlighted the potential failure of Lisa's renewal. They cited a Chinese entertainment representative who, while coordinating Lisa's schedule, heard from YG Entertainment that "due to the uncertainty of the renewal, it's difficult to discuss schedules after August."

However, YG Entertainment responded, stating, "Lisa's schedule in China is due to tours and personal commitments. It has no relation to her contract status."

Currently, on Weibo, the word is that all four members have agreed to a renewal. Still, YG Entertainment commented, "BLACKPINK's renewal is under discussion," drawing a line under the speculation. Given BLACKPINK's massive influence, fans have voiced that one should refrain from making premature speculations and generating rumors.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016. Concurrently, they made hits with "Whistle" and "BOOMBAYAH." Following these, they continued their rise to stardom with consecutive hits like "DDU-DU-DDU-DU," "How You Like That," "Pink Venom," and "Shut Down."
