BTS Jungkook and Jimin Dominate U.S. Billboard Charts: A First for Korean Solo Artists
BTS's Jungkook has added yet another milestone to his record. According to the latest chart (dated August 12) released by the U.S. music media Billboard on the 8th (local time), Jungkook's 'Seven (feat. Latto)' claimed the top spot on both the 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' charts.
Jungkook has retained the top position on this chart, which aggregates streaming and sales from over 200 countries/regions, for three consecutive weeks. This marks the first time a Korean solo artist has topped the Billboard 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' charts for three straight weeks.
Moreover, 'Seven' has reached the 30th spot on Billboard's main song chart, the 'Hot 100'. The track shot straight to number one on the 'Hot 100' (dated July 29) within a week of its release last month and has continued to receive immense love, staying in the top ranks for three weeks in a row.
It's not just Jungkook; BTS members have been enjoying consistent popularity on the Billboard charts through their individual activities. Jimin's title track 'Like Crazy' from his first solo album 'FACE', released last March, has been on a long run, ranking 47th on the 'Global (Excluding U.S.)' and 70th on the 'Global 200', maintaining its position for 19 consecutive weeks.
BTS's achievements on the album-specific charts are also commendable. On the Billboard 'World Albums' chart, Jimin's 'FACE' ranks 9th, BTS's anthology album 'Proof' ranks 13th, while on the 'Top Current Albums' chart, Suga's solo album 'D-DAY' ranks 45th, RM's solo album 'INDIGO' ranks 56th, and Jimin's 'FACE' holds the 64th position. On the 'Top Album Sales' chart, Suga's solo album 'D-DAY' secured the 75th spot.
