BLACKPINK Celebrates 7th Anniversary: 'We Love You, BLINKS Forever!'
The sensational girl group BLACKPINK (comprising members Jisoo, Rosé, Jennie, and Lisa) is celebrating their 7th debut anniversary.
On August 8, each member took to their individual Instagram accounts to commemorate their 7th anniversary with heartfelt posts.
Starting off, Jennie expressed in English, "We love you. Love to both BLACKPINK and BLINKS," showing her affection for the fans and group. Jisoo and Rosé shared, "It's BLACKPINK's 7th anniversary today!! There are so many things we want to say to BLINKS and to BLACKPINK... We're not sure whether to start by expressing gratitude or apologizing, but we genuinely want to celebrate and thank our members for their hard work not just for these 7 years, but for over a decade. Happy 7th year anniversary to Blackpink!" Lisa conveyed, "Congratulations to the amazing three members and me on our 7th anniversary! 7 is one of my favorite numbers, and I hope this year brings us luck!"
Since their meteoric debut on August 8, 2016, BLACKPINK has reached their 7th anniversary milestone. Taking over from the renowned 2NE1 as the next top hip-hop girl group launched by YG, BLACKPINK's accomplishments over these 7 years have been nothing short of staggering. On August 8, 2016, YG's head, Yang Hyun-suk, personally oversaw their debut showcase, introducing BLACKPINK with immense confidence. Their debut album 'SQUARE ONE', featuring hits like 'Whistle' and 'Boombayah', followed by tracks such as 'As If It's Your Last' and 'STAY', garnered widespread acclaim, essentially sweeping new artist awards. Since 2018, they've risen as global artists, releasing massive hits like 'DDU-DU DDU-DU', 'Forever Young', 'Kill This Love', 'How You Like That', and 'Lovesick Girls'.
BLACKPINK has indeed hit the pinnacle of their career this year. With their second full-length album 'THE ALBUM', they became the first K-pop girl group to top the Billboard 200 chart, and also secured the #1 position on the UK's Official Album Top 100 Chart, marking a massive success not just as celebrities but as global music artists.
The question of BLACKPINK's re-signing with YG remains unresolved. Currently on a world tour attracting audiences of up to 1.5 million, BLACKPINK successfully wrapped up a solo concert in Paris, France last month with an audience of 55,000. They are also set to perform in LA on the 26th. Even if the official re-signing hasn't been confirmed yet, as long as both parties are willing, they can prepare for concerts and maintain their contractual relationship for the time being.
