Girl group BLACKPINK's 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' music video has surpassed 2.1 billion views on YouTube, becoming the first K-pop artist music video to reach this milestone.
According to YG Entertainment on the 31st, BLACKPINK's 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' music video surpassed 2.1 billion views on YouTube around 4:27 PM the day before. This is a remarkable record achieved approximately 5 years and 1 month since its release on June 15, 2018.
Powered by the persistent love of global music fans, 'DDU-DU DDU-DU' is setting new records on YouTube every minute, as the most viewed K-pop group music video ever. With the views' number changing every 3-6 months, there is anticipation for future records.
'DDU-DU DDU-DU', the title song from BLACKPINK's debut mini-album 'SQUARE UP', drew global attention in 2018 with its catchy chorus and gun-shooting point choreography, making it the most-watched K-pop music video worldwide that year.
The song also achieved dazzling results on various global charts. It secured a 'Perfect All Kill' on domestic charts, as well as ranked 40th and 55th on the US Billboard 200 and Hot 100, respectively, setting a new record for a K-pop girl group. Its streaming numbers on Spotify, the world's largest music platform, are over 600 million.
Meanwhile, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK's official YouTube channel stands at 90.3 million, making them the top artist worldwide, not just in K-pop. The group holds a total of 43 videos with hundreds of millions of views, and their content has amassed over 32.4 billion views, continually setting new records as the 'YouTube Queens'.
