BTS Jungkook Shatters Records with 'Seven': Dominates Billboard 'Global 200' with Highest Solo Streaming and Debuts at #1 in Worldwide Sales
BTS Jungkook has illuminated his global popularity by setting a record as the solo artist with the highest weekly streaming on Billboard history and debuting at #1 in global weekly sales.
According to Billboard on July 24th (local time), Jungkook's 'Seven' made an impressive debut straight to #1 on the U.S. Billboard's main singles chart 'Hot 100', marking a milestone in the history of K-pop and the global music market.
Alongside his 'Hot 100' achievement, Jungkook rewrote Billboard history in the 'Global 200' chart as well, surpassing U.S. pop star Miley Cyrus to record the highest weekly streaming by a solo artist ever.
According to the 'World Music Awards' (WMA), often referred to as Europe's Billboard, 'Seven' by Jungkook registered over 217.1 million plays, marking the largest weekly streaming by a solo artist in the history of Billboard's 'Global 200'. Surpassing the previous record set by Miley Cyrus's 'Flowers' with 217 million streams, Jungkook established a new record for the highest weekly streaming by a solo artist globally on Billboard.
Real-time global music chart update platforms on Twitter like 'chart data' and 'Pop Base' also announced through their official accounts that "Jungkook has made his debut at #1 on Billboard's 'Global 200' chart, recording the highest ever weekly streaming by a solo artist with 217.1 million."
Furthermore, Jungkook's 'Seven' also set the record for the highest debut week sales in Billboard history, among both group and solo artists globally, with 269,000 sales on the 'Global 200' chart. 'Seven' also showed impressive performance in the streaming calculations on the 'Hot 100' chart.
'Seven', which snagged #1 on 'Hot 100', recorded 21.9 million streams, almost double the 11.6 million streams of the country singer Jason Aldean's 'Try That In A Small Town' which ranked second.
'Seven' also proved its widespread popularity on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, by breaking records for the fastest 50 million streams in just 3 days and 100 million streams within 6 days (before filtering).
'Seven' debuted at #1 on Billboard's 'Global Excl. U.S.' chart, #2 on Digital Song Sales, #4 on Streaming Songs, and #1 in Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. It also debuted at #3 in India.
