NewJeans Storms Global Charts, Hits Spotify's Global Top 4: New Personal Best as They Dominate in South Korea, U.S., Japan, and China
The global popularity of NewJeans is truly on the rise. Their latest song has not only stormed the charts in South Korea, but also those in the U.S., Japan, and China, setting new personal records day by day.
According to their agency ADOR on July 23 (KST), one of the triple title tracks of NewJeans's second mini-album "Get Up," called "Super Shy," recorded 4th place on Spotify's global "Daily Top Songs" chart (as of July 21, local time).
"Super Shy," pre-released on July 7, first entered this chart at 46th place and steadily climbed the ranks, maintaining a position within the top 10. Following the album's release on July 21, it jumped a whopping seven places from the previous day, securing a spot in the chart's upper echelons.
Not only 'Super Shy,' but all tracks from the second mini-album 'Get Up' have landed on Spotify's global "Daily Top Songs,' "Cool With You" at 21st place, "New Jeans" at 22nd place, "ETA" at 25th place, "ASAP" at 26th place, and "Get Up" at 41st place.
NewJeans is particularly prominent in the U.S., the world's largest pop market. "Super Shy," which previously recorded 66th place on the U.S. Billboard "Hot 100," achieved 10th place on the Spotify U.S. "Daily Top Songs" chart as of July 21. "Cool With You" is at 16th place, "New Jeans" is at 20th place, "ETA" is at 22nd place, "ASAP" is at 25th place, and "Get Up" is at 32nd place.
NewJeans's popularity is also hot in Japan and China. The group's second mini-album "Get Up" shot straight to the top of the latest Japan Oricon chart's "Daily Album Ranking" announced on the same day. In addition, "ASAP" took the top spot on China's QQ Music "Fast Rising Chart" and "New Trend Index Chart," while "Super Shy" is being loved at 3rd place on the "New Song Chart."
Amid the growing global influence of NewJeans, who are expanding day by day without any particular overseas activities, they have already swept the top of the album and music charts in South Korea.
NewJeans's second mini-album "Get Up" sold over 1.19 million copies (based on Hanteo Chart) on its first day of release, becoming a million-seller in one fell swoop. "Super Shy" has held the top of the daily charts on major music sites including Melon for nearly two weeks, and another title track "ETA" is showing unstoppable momentum, even topping the real-time charts on Naver Vibe and Bugs.
Considering NewJeans alternated in taking the music chart throne with "Ditto" and "OMG" throughout the first quarter of 2023, if their dual popularity continues on a "long run," it's highly likely that their album sales will continue to increase.
Meanwhile, NewJeans took the top spot with "Super Shy" on MBC's "Show! Music Core" on July 22. With the second half of the year ahead, anticipation is high for NewJeans's serious trophy hunting.
