NewJeans Strikes Again: Claims Spot as Million-Seller for Third Consecutive Time with Mini Album 'Get Up'
NewJeans has secured a spot in the million-seller list once again with the release of their mini 2nd album 'Get Up,' which sold over a million copies on its release day.
According to their agency, ADOR, on the 22nd, NewJeans' mini 2nd album 'Get Up' had sold 1,194,623 copies based on Hanteo Chart, thereby securing the number one spot on the daily chart. This marks their third consecutive achievement as a million-seller following their debut album 'New Jeans' and single album 'OMG.'
NewJeans' dominant presence was also proved on the music charts. Their pre-released single 'Super Shy' solidly held the top spot on major domestic music charts like Melon, Genie, and Flo. Meanwhile, 'ETA' also gained popularity on Bugs and Naver Vibe.
In addition, 'Cool With You,' 'New Jeans,' 'ASAP,' 'Get Up' have all ranked high on each chart, and are receiving steady love from fans. Given the enduring popularity of their previous works like 'Hybe boy,' 'Attention,' 'Ditto,' 'OMG,' NewJeans has a considerable share in the charts.
NewJeans continues to have a positive impact on the global charts as well.
'Super Shy' secured the 61st place on the UK Official Singles Chart 'Top 100' released on the 21st (local time), making it into the charts for the second consecutive week. Earlier, the song entered the chart at 59th place, setting a new record for NewJeans.
On the US Spotify Global 'Weekly Top Song' chart (dated July 20), 'Super Shy' rose 10 steps to the 12th spot, while it climbed 17 steps to the 15th place on the US 'Weekly Top Song' chart.
Furthermore, their mini 2nd album 'Get Up' topped the Apple Music 'Top Album' chart in 17 countries and iTunes 'Top Album' chart in 9 countries/regions as of 10 AM on the 22nd. With positive reactions from mainstream pop markets like the UK and the US, the expectation for future progress is high.
International media are also paying attention. The renowned UK music magazine NME gave the mini 2nd album 'Get Up' a perfect five-star rating in their review article published on the 21st (local time).
NME praised the album as having "six flawless songs," and projected that "thanks to this mini album, everyone's attention will continue to be focused on NewJeans."
