JYP's NiziU Tops Oricon Daily Album Ranking with 2nd Album, Prepares for 'Music Station' Appearance
JYP Entertainment's girl group, NiziU, has topped the Oricon daily album ranking with their new full-length album.
NiziU's second full-length album 'COCONUT', released on the 19th, claimed the first spot on the Oricon daily album ranking for the 18th with 112,203 points. The album held the top position for two consecutive days on the chart until the 19th, showcasing their powerful album presence by topping the Oricon album chart with their second full album as well, following their first full album 'U'.
Released approximately 1 year and 8 months after their first full album 'U' in November 2021, 'COCONUT' gathered anticipation even before its official release. The title track 'COCONUT', the group's first summer album title song, stirs up excitement with its repetitive lyrics over a rhythmic melody. With the addition of sounds like guitar, saxophone, drums, wind instruments, bird sounds reminiscent of a summer paradise, and Latin-inspired percussion, the song enhanced its tropical charm. On the day of the album release, a performance video version of 'COCONUT' was posted on their official social media channel, offering a refreshing performance against a pastel-toned swimming pool background, increasing the satisfaction of fans.
Continuing their successful momentum, on the 21st, they will appear on TV Asahi's representative music program 'Music Station' and perform their new song, creating a NiziU-style summer night festival. 'Music Station', Japan's most popular music broadcast for the past 37 years since its first airing in October 1986, has confirmed NiziU's appearance once again, solidifying their position as regular guests on the program.
Recently, they are successfully carrying out their second solo tour, 'NiziU Live with U 2023 "COCO! nut Fes."' that shone with sell-outs at all 15 shows across seven regions in Japan. They completed performances in Saga and Tokyo, and on July 19th and 20th, they performed at the Osaka Castle Hall for two days, creating special memories with the fans who filled the venue. NiziU, demonstrating their presence with passionate stages, will continue their tour until September at the Hiroshima Green Arena in Hiroshima Prefecture, the Port Messe Nagoya Shinje Exhibition Hall in Aichi Prefecture, the Miyagi Sekisui Heim Super Arena in Miyagi Prefecture, and the Hokkaido Kitaelro.
On September 17th and 18th, they will enter a stadium performance venue for the first time since their debut at the ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba Prefecture for 'NiziU Live with U 2023 "COCO! nut Fes." -Stadium Special-'. With a successful tour, the hit new album, and the first solo stadium concert since their debut, NiziU, who are proving to be the 'trendy girl group', are expected to extend their 'NiziU power' even further with their active performances.
