Big Hit Music Asserts: No Chart Counting Error for BTS Jungkook's Solo Single 'Seven' - Officially Registered Correctly
Big Hit Music has clarified the rumors regarding a charting error for BTS's Jungkook's solo single.
On the 16th, Big Hit Music, the agency for BTS, informed XSportsNews, "Both the music video and the performance video for the artist Jungkook are accurately registered in the YouTube system." Big Hit further dispelled the 'error theory,' stating, "There are no issues with the YouTube data tally."
Recently, Jungkook, the youngest member of BTS, released his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto)'. 'Seven' dominated both the Oricon charts in Japan and the Spotify charts in the United States, and the music video, which showcased Jungkook's on-screen chemistry with actress Han So-hee, created a significant buzz.
However, some of Jungkook's fandom began to claim that the artist credits for the video were not properly registered, resulting in the omission of YouTube scores from the Billboard Hot 100 main chart. If an artist isn't registered, the YouTube score during the tally period would be 'zero'.
According to online communities, the controversy escalated with claims that only HYBE, not Jungkook, was registered as the artist. In response, Big Hit Music has categorically stated there are no errors in the artist registration.
Meanwhile, Jungkook's 'Seven' topped the iTunes 'Top Song' charts in 106 countries/regions (as of 9 AM on the 15th) and climbed to the number one spot on the largest domestic music site, Melon TOP 100 (as of 0 AM on the 15th), just 11 hours after its release. This achievement set a new record for the 'fastest' number one ranking by a male solo artist.
