Inkigayo Surprise: Group 'Le Sserafim' Captures No. 1 Spot Sans Broadcast Appearance Amid EXO, NewJeans Comeback & Kim Ji-eun, Hyungwon Departures
Girl Group Le Sserafim (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Heo Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eun-chae) has managed to secure the top spot on SBS's 'Inkigayo', without even appearing on the broadcast.
On the afternoon of July 16, Le Sserafim's "Eve, Psyche, and Bluebeard's Wife" claimed the number one trophy for the third week of July, beating out aespa's "Spicy" and IVE's "Kitsch."
Interestingly, Leseraphin claimed the top spot without even appearing on the broadcast.
Delivering the news of Leseraphin's victory, MC Kim Ji-eun also announced her departure, stating, "Our final goodbye is coming with the warm spring."
She continued, "'Inkigayo' made me feel like I was coming to a concert every week. I'm truly grateful to the 'Inkigayo' staff for this experience and to Hyungwon. Thank you so much to the fans, and see you next time," expressing her feelings on her departure with great cheer.
Monsta X's Hyungwon also expressed his gratitude, stating, "I've never looked forward to a particular day of the week before, but 'Inkigayo' made me anticipate Sundays. Thank you to the production staff and to my co-host Kim Ji-eun."
The episode of 'Inkigayo' also highlighted several exciting comebacks and debut performances. NewJeans performed 'New Jeans' and 'Super Shy', tracks from their upcoming second mini-album 'Get Up,' set to be released on the 21st.
EXO made a triumphant return, stating "We're back for our EXO-Ls." The group performed their new song 'Cream Soda' in dashing suits. 'Cream Soda' stands out with its exotic rhythm and addictive chorus, charmingly expressing the exhilarating moments of falling in love through the metaphor of a smooth yet thrilling cream soda.
JYP Entertainment's youngest group NMIXX also made a comeback, performing their summer songs "Party O'Clock" and "Roller Coaster".
In addition to NewJeans, EXO, and NMIXX, performers on "Inkigayo" included Lapillus, LUN8, Sandara Park, SWAN, 8TURN, ODD EYE CIRCLE, ZEROBASEONE, Koyote, Queenz Eye, KISS OF LIFE, and TREASURE(T5).
