South Korean police are reportedly investigating allegations of an 'improper' performance by MAMAMOO's Hwasa. The incident unfolded at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival during a recording of tvN's reality show, "Dancing Queens On The Road." The Seoul Seongdong Police Station confirmed the investigation following complaints from a student-parent group, as revealed by Chosun Ilbo, a prominent South Korean newspaper.

The student-parent association has lodged a complaint against the K-pop artist over her rendition of the song "Don't," alleging the performance included an inappropriate gesture. The group expressed concerns that the action was suggestive of a sexually explicit act and unfit for a public audience. "Her gesture was unfitting to the choreography and did not align with the concept of performance art," said the group, as quoted by Koreaboo.

As the investigation proceeds, authorities may summon Hwasa if required. Meanwhile, the singer's agency responded to the incident, stating that they are conducting their internal inquiry to establish the facts.

Hwasa's contentious performance at the festival led to the contentious segment being cut from the June 22 episode of "Dancing Queens On The Road." The artist's performance from May 12 at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival had gained significant online traction, sparking a wide array of reactions from the public.

Netizens on online forums have since been locked in a debate over whether Hwasa's gesture crossed acceptable boundaries. While some viewed her act as distasteful and unfit for a diverse audience, including middle and high school students, others suggested that such behavior is common amongst international female artists. "She might be influenced by global icons like Rihanna and Cardi B," one user pointed out.

"Dancing Queens On The Road," alternatively known as "Dance Singer Wandering Troupe," is a reality show following renowned South Korean artists Hwasa, Kim Wan-sun, Uhm Jung-hwa, Lee Hyori, and BoA on a national fan meet tour. The show, directed by Kim Tae-ho and Kang Ryung-mi, was previously associated with Lee on "Seoul Check-In" and "Canada Check-In."
