BTS's Jimin Hits a Historic Milestone: Ninth Billboard Hot 100 Entry in Just One Year
BTS member Jimin continues to make unprecedented strides on Billboard, outshining every Korean solo artist in popularity. His main theme song for the Hollywood blockbuster 'Fast & Furious 10', 'Angel Pt.1', secured 96th place on the Billboard 'Hot 100' on July 1.
Previously on June 3, 'Angel Pt.1' had clinched the 65th spot on the 'Hot 100' chart, marking the highest rank for a Korean artist's OST. It continued to shine as the only Korean solo song reentering the chart, maintaining its position for the second week.
With this achievement, Jimin becomes the only Korean solo artist who has not only made it to the top spot with 'Like Crazy', which stayed on the charts for five weeks but also had two songs charting on the 'Hot 100' over the past decade.
Moreover, his pre-release song 'Set Me Free Pt2', which had reached the highest position for a Korean solo artist at 30th, and 'Vibe', a collaboration with Taeyang that reached 76th, have together accomplished a remarkable feat of nine weeks on the 'Hot 100' chart within a mere 22 weeks. Jimin has indeed marked a new milestone in the history of Korean solo artists.
'Angel Pt.1' also reentered the 'Digital Song Sales' chart at 5th place, marking this week's highest K-pop position. Meanwhile, on the 'Global 200', it moved up 19 steps to 21st place, and on the 'Global (Excluding U.S)', it ascended 12 steps to 14th place. The song continues to rise and maintains its chart position for the fifth consecutive week.
Moreover, the 'Rap Digital Song Sales' and 'R&B Hip Hop Digital Song Sales' charts, where he once topped in the second week of his debut, now hold the second position, maintaining his chart streak for the fifth week. His ranking has notably increased in all three categories on the 'Hot R&B Hip Hop Songs' chart, reaching 38th place.
Additionally, it reached 37th place on the 'Pop Airplay' chart, and the 'Fast & Furious 10' OST album featuring 'Angel Pt.1' continued its two-week rise, maintaining its position in the top 10 for the fourth consecutive week on the 'Soundtrack' chart, where it debuted at number 1.
Meanwhile, according to the official Billboard announcement, Jimin's 'Like Crazy' is one of the five songs to debut at number 1 on the 'Hot 100' in 2023, alongside songs from artists like Miley Cyrus and The Weeknd. It also returned to the 'World Digital Song Sales' chart as the highest-ranking Korean soloist for the ninth consecutive week.
Furthermore, 'Like Crazy' placed 40th and 28th respectively on 'Global 200' and 'Global (Excluding U.S)'. Meanwhile, Jimin's 'FACE' records a 13-week top 10 streak on the 'World Albums' chart as the highest-ranking Korean soloist. The 'Top Album Sales' and 'Top Current Album Sales' charts also continue to chart for the 13th consecutive week at 70th and 42nd place.
In 2023, without any major radio promotions, Jimin stood shoulder to shoulder with the world's top artists as the only non-English-speaking artist to make it to the top of the Billboard 'Hot 100'. His songs 'Set Me Free Pt 2', 'Angel Pt.1', 'FACE', and 'Like Crazy' have all charted in 14 consecutive weeks, marking an impressive achievement.
