Psy Turns the Tables at 'Summer Swag' Concert, Announces Contract with Hwasa Amidst Dating Rumors
Renowned K-pop artist Psy began a new partnership with Hwasa by announcing her signing at the 'Summer Swag' concert.
On June 30th, the 'Psy Summer Swag 2023' (known as 'Summer Swag') concert took place at the Olympic Main Stadium in Jamsil Sports Complex, Seoul.
The inaugural 2023 'Summer Swag' concert was a success, filled with a parade of hit songs that anyone could sing along to, blowing away the summer heat with cool water cannons. With over 35,000 attendees, 'Summer Swag' offered a long running time of more than 3 hours, featuring countless stages of Psy's hit songs such as 'It's Art,' 'Gentleman,' 'New Face,' 'Gangnam Style,' and 'Celebrity.' There were also dance numbers from the past, ballads, rock medleys, and high-quality encore performances that elevated audience satisfaction.
Just like the unstoppable water cannons, the 'Summer Swag' stage continued without pause. Despite the time flying by, the biggest buzz of the day was the surprise contract signing performance between Hwasa and Psy.
Before introducing Hwasa's stage, Psy hinted at something important about his small music company P-Nation, grabbing the attention of the audience. A table bearing the P-Nation logo was then prepared on stage, followed by Hwasa's surprise appearance that drew thunderous applause from the crowd. Hwasa, after performing 'Maria,' personally announced that she became a "family member of P-Nation," creating a sensation.
News of Hwasa deciding to join P-Nation was first revealed through an exclusive report by XSports News. At the time, P-Nation confirmed they were discussing an exclusive contract with Hwasa, which further heightened fans' anticipation. And on that day, the news of the exclusive contract signing was announced through a performance at Psy's 'Summer Swag' concert, adding a unique twist.
After Hwasa's stage ended, Psy expressed his gratitude, promising that "it might be the first time a contract has been signed at a concert in our country. I will do my best to support Hwasa and deliver great music together. Please give her a warm round of applause once again."
The surprise announcement held another meaning as it successfully overshadowed rumors of Hwasa's romantic involvement with a businessman 12 years her senior. News of her 5-year relationship had drawn intense attention that day. Hwasa was in a tough spot with the sudden dating rumors amidst her recent end of contract with her former agency.
At that time, Psy announced at the 'Summer Swag' concert that Hwasa was his artist, successfully shifting the focus from the dating rumors. Of course, there were no mentions of the dating rumors on stage that day, and no official statements regarding the issue were made. However, the fact that Psy had taken Hwasa under his wing as a P-Nation artist brought a sense of reassurance.
Having already demonstrated unique chemistry through their musical collaboration in Psy's 9th full-length album 'Psy 9,' the duo have sparked considerable interest and anticipation about the synergy they will create at P-Nation, known for their extraordinary energy and enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Psy's 'Summer Swag' Seoul concert is set to continue on July 1st and 2nd, and then move to Wonju on the 8th, Yeosu on the 15th, Suwon on the 22nd and 23rd, Boryeong on the 29th, Iksan on August 5th, Incheon on the 12th, Daegu on the 19th and 20th, and Busan on the 26th and 27th.
