Psy's Sizzling Summer Show: A Smash Hit with a Surprise Exclusive Contract for Hwasa
Renowned singer Psy brought an invigorating performance amidst the sweltering heat, sure to have doused fans in refreshing energy.
On the afternoon of the 30th, the first performance of "Psy's Summer Swag 2023" took place at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium located on Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
"Psy's Summer Swag" has established itself as Psy's representative summer concert brand, symbolizing the spirit of the season. With every installment, it tops the ticket sales, creating sell-out legend, and it is loved for its atmosphere featuring Psy's explosive energy-filled stage and the audience's choral singing.
As the clock struck 6:42 pm (KST), Psy commenced the show with an opening video fused with a remix of "Gangnam Style". The video featured actor Heo Seong-tae, which caught the attention of many. Heo Seong-tae incited the countdown while performing the previously controversial cocaine dance. Right after the countdown ended, Psy, known for his stage jumps, appeared on stage.
A cooling spray of water showered the audience, as they enjoyed Psy's passionate performance. Particularly during the performances of "Like That" and "It's Art", Psy displayed fervent energy, to which the audience responded with choral singing.
After the performance, Psy indirectly reminded the audience that he has been in the industry for 23 years now, and he playfully commented that he would adjust the duration of the concert based on the length of the cheers that followed each song.
The show was designed to foster an interactive atmosphere with the audience, rather than being solely performance-focused. For instance, during the song "What Would It Be Like", he initiated a "kiss time" for couples and even showcased them on camera. The performance, blended with an exuberant water show, captivated the spectators.
The guest lineup was quite spectacular as well. Hwasa, who was part of P Nation, graced the stage, showcasing her songs and her friendship with Psy. She left a warm remark after her performance, expressing her love for P Nation and Psy.
There was a surprise exclusive contract signing. On stage, Mamamoo's Hwasa signed an exclusive contract with P Nation. Psy mentioned that he was about to sign a crucial contract for his company, P Nation, before Hwasa joined him at the contract table.
After signing the contract, Hwasa performed "Maria", announcing that she just became a member of the P Nation family minutes ago, and she confirmed that the signing was real, not part of the performance, which gained a lot of attention. Psy also marked the occasion, noting that signing a contract during a performance was a rarity.
After the guest performances, Psy dominated the concert by presenting a medley of his various hit songs. True to his nickname, "The Encore Craftsman", Psy concluded the regular two-hour concert by singing various songs as encores, providing a refreshing finale for the fatigued audience amidst the summer heat.
Meanwhile, "Psy's Summer Swag 2023" will continue with performances on June 30, July 1 and 2 at the Seoul Jamsil Olympic Stadium. Following the Seoul shows, it will move on to various locations like the Wonju Sports Complex on July 8, the Yeosu Jinam Sports Complex on July 15, the Suwon World Cup Stadium on July 22 and 23, the Boryeong Sports Complex on July 29, the Iksan Sports Complex on August 5, the Incheon Asian Games Main Stadium on August 12, the Daegu Stadium Main Stadium on August 19 and 20, and finally the Busan Asiad Auxiliary Stadium on August 26 and 27.
