BTS Jungkook Embraces a New Chapter with Solo Single 'Seven', Reveals Plans for Solo Album
BTS member Jungkook has revealed his intentions to release a solo album following his upcoming solo single.
According to BTS's agency, Big Hit Music, on June 30, Jungkook is set to release his solo digital single 'Seven' at 1 PM on July 14 (KST).
The agency expressed its anticipation for 'Seven', stating it's a summer song that fully showcases Jungkook's charm. They hope it will add joy to everyone's summer and kindly asked for support and anticipation for Jungkook's official solo activities, starting with this digital single and leading into his future ventures.
On the morning of June 30, shortly after the announcement of his solo single release, Jungkook took to the fan community platform, Weverse, for a live broadcast. He expressed his excitement and anticipation for the release of his first single on July 14. He also assumed that his fans may be disappointed as they were expecting an album instead of a single but reassured them that an album is also in the works.
Expressing his satisfaction with 'Seven', Jungkook shared that he listened to the track many times during recording and practice sessions, and it never got tiresome. He believes his fans will enjoy it as well.
Jungkook revealed that he is starting with a single as he's working hard to explore his own musical direction and show fans a voice they haven't heard before. He reassured fans that they should not be disappointed with the single release, as he is preparing an album, which he is extremely excited about.
He acknowledged that this is a new challenge for him and found the process of working alone on the music and the music video enjoyable and refreshing. It has ignited a new goal in him, to become better and cooler, which will require hard work.
Reflecting on his recent activities, Jungkook admitted that he had been taking it easy and enjoying some personal time. During a meeting with producer Bang Si-hyuk, he heard a song that sparked his desire to work hard again. Consequently, he promised to work hard to show his best to the fans, starting with the single.
Debuting as a member of BTS in June 2013, Jungkook has demonstrated strong vocal presence in the songs and performances of BTS over the past decade.
In June last year, he collaborated with American singer Charlie Puth on the single 'Left and Right', which peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 15 consecutive weeks. Later in August, he collaborated on the single 'Bad Decisions' with BTS members Jin, Jimin, V, Benny Blanco, and Snoop Dogg, which entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 10. In November, he sang 'Dreamers', the official soundtrack for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, which topped iTunes 'Top Song' charts in 102 countries/regions.
In the lead up to his solo album release, Jungkook donated 1 billion KRW to Seoul National University Children's Hospital on April 18. The donation is used to cover the medical expenses of children from low-income families and to support the integrated care center project.
