A Blast From The Past: INFINITE's Kim Sungkyu Delighted to Join Fellow 2nd Generation Idols for a Comeback Showdown
Kim Sungkyu from the idol group INFINITE expressed his sentiments about making a comeback alongside other 2nd generation K-pop idols.
A press conference celebrating the release of Kim Sungkyu's fifth mini-album '2023 S/S Collection' was held on the 28th in a cafe located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
INFINITE is gearing up for their full-member performance on August 19th and 20th. This will be followed by an array of comebacks from 2nd generation idols, starting with Kim Sungkyu and U-KISS today (28th) and Teen Top on July 4th.
In response to this, Kim Sungkyu shared, "I am looking forward to meeting my colleagues who I've worked with after such a long time, and I think it will be a pleasure. I anticipate that we will support each other and work hard," expressing his feelings about joining the 2nd generation idol comeback showdown.
Adding to this, he said, "In some ways, I feel relieved. I am generally shy and get embarrassed easily, so I tend to stick to the sidelines. I was like that even during the Idol Star Athletics Championships, and I'm not particularly sociable. I was worried that I would feel lonely, but fortunately, I think I will see familiar friends," showing his relief.
Though Kim Sungkyu has showcased his fun side in numerous variety shows, he revealed, "I am not really carefree in real life, I am actually quite sensitive."
Kim Sungkyu expressed, "Sometimes, the people I work and prepare with sigh a lot because of me. I have also had times when I struggled and worried about my identity on the show. But if I stay quiet, wouldn't I look like someone who doesn't want to participate?" He then spoke about his resolve to do his best under the current circumstances.
He further added, "There are times when it's fun and rewarding. I feel like I'm adjusting to it. I've come to accept that this is also a part of me."
When asked about his stress management technique, Kim Sungkyu mentioned 'sauna'. He explained, "I feel like the stress in my body flies away as I sweat. The refreshing feeling when I come out of the sauna, take a bath, and have a cool drink is very pleasant," and he mentioned 'Sauna Mate' actor Kim Minseok.
Meanwhile, Kim Sungkyu's fifth mini-album '2023 S/S Collection' is set to be released through various online music sites at 6 PM on the 28th.
