Stray Kids Conquer U.S. Billboard 200 and Artist 100, Dominating Charts for Third Consecutive Time
The South Korean group Stray Kids has seized the number one spots on the U.S. Billboard 200 and Artist 100 charts for the third time in a row.
According to an official announcement by Billboard on the 13th, Stray Kids' third studio album "5-STAR" and its title track 'S-Class' secured the top spots on the Billboard main charts 'Billboard 200' and 'Artist 100' for June 17th.
With this, Stray Kids has reached the top of Billboard's two main charts three times in a row since their 2022 mini-albums 'ODDINARY' and 'MAXIDENT,' and now with their first 2023 record, reinforcing their global popularity.
Moreover, they swept the top spots on five Billboard charts, including 'Top Album Sales,' 'Top Current Album Sales,' and 'World Album.' They also made their mark on a total of 11 key Billboard charts, including placing 19th on the 'Bubbling Under Hot 100,' which ranks 25 songs nearing entry to the 'Hot 100,' 2nd on 'World Digital Song Sales,' 3rd on 'Tastemaker Albums,' 24th on 'Billboard Global 200,' 15th on 'Billboard Global (Excl. US),' and 22nd on 'Digital Song Sales.'
Notably, Stray Kids has debuted at number one on the 'Billboard 200' chart with three consecutive works from 'ODDINARY' in March 2022 to this album '5-STAR.' This is the first time this has happened since British pop superstar Harry Styles achieved this with three solo albums.
Their album and streaming sales in the first week of release reached a new personal best with 249,500 units sold, surpassing the combined first-week sales of the two mini-albums that topped the 'Billboard 200' last year. Of these, physical album sales amounted to 235,000 units, making it the most-sold album in a week in the U.S. for 2023 and the largest first-week sales since Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' in October 2022.
Stray Kids' third studio album, which was presented after about two years, broke the record for 'K-pop's highest-ever pre-orders' with over 5.13 million orders as of June 1st. Their title track '특' ranked 100th in the 'Official Singles Chart Top 100.'
On Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, '5-STAR' exceeded 100 million streams just 11 days after its release. It also achieved new personal bests on various album charts in numerous regions in Oceania and Europe.
Stray Kids, who have recently gained immense popularity in Japan, have also taken over various charts including the Japanese iTunes Album Chart, the Tower Records Daily Sales Chart, and the Billboard Japan Download Album Chart.
Stray Kids will hold their third official fan meeting 'Stray Kids 3RD FANMEETING 'PILOT : FOR 5-STAR' on July 1st and 2nd at the KSPO DOME in Olympic Park, Songpa-gu, Seoul. On the 2nd, they will simultaneously conduct an offline performance and an online live stream through the Beyond LIVE platform.
