Stray Kids Achieve Triple Success with Third Consecutive No. 1 on U.S. 'Billboard 200'
K-pop group Stray Kids have clinched a record-setting third consecutive No. 1 on the U.S. 'Billboard 200' chart with their new album '5-STAR.'
According to an article on the official Billboard website on the 11th (local time), Stray Kids' third full album '5-STAR', released on June 2, topped the 'Billboard 200' chart. With this, Stray Kids have secured their place at the summit of the 'Billboard 200' for the third time in a row, following their two mini-albums 'ODDINARY' and 'MAXIDENT' released in 2022, and their first record of 2023.
Notably, the album achieved first-week sales of 249,500 combined album and streaming sales, surpassing the combined first-week sales of their two albums from last year, setting another personal best. Physical album sales alone reached 235,000, making it not only the highest-selling album in a week for 2023, but also the highest first-week sales since Taylor Swift's 'Midnights' in October 2022, demonstrating their powerful global influence.
The new album broke a K-pop record by achieving 4.93 million pre-orders as of May 30. As of June 8, the album reached a first-week sales (sales within a week of release) record of 4,617,499 units according to Hanteo Chart, a music sales tracking site. This has established Stray Kids as JYP Entertainment's first quadruple million-selling artist, setting a new first-week sales record in the history of K-pop.
The group is set to hold their third standalone fan meeting, 'Stray Kids 3RD FANMEETING 'PILOT : For 5-Star', over two days on July 1 and 2 at KSPO DOME in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
