HIGHR Music Acknowledges Responsibility in BIG Naughty's Stage Departure Controversy, Requests Restraint on Speculation
Following singer BIG Naughty's apology for abruptly leaving the stage to engage in affectionate behavior with his girlfriend, his agency also issued a statement.
BIG Naughty (also known as Seo Dong-hyun) performed at the Tone & Music Festival 2023 held at Seoul Olympic Park on May 4. Mid-performance of an unreleased song, BIG Naughty suddenly disappeared backstage, leaving the audience and band section waiting in confusion.
The reason for BIG Naughty's unexpected exit - to engage in public displays of affection with his girlfriend - was revealed through fan-captured footage, which subsequently stirred up controversy. In response, BIG Naughty expressed remorse and apologized via a live broadcast and a handwritten letter.
On the afternoon of May 7, BIG Naughty's label, HIGHR Music, also released an official statement. The agency stated, "BIG Naughty is deeply reflecting on the controversy regarding his behavior on stage, and we, as a company, fully acknowledge our responsibility."
Further, HIGHR Music mentioned rumors regarding tardiness to other schedules along with the current controversy, pledging, "We will strive to ensure that our artists demonstrate more careful and mature behavior in the future."
The agency clarified, "We are aware that fans may have misunderstandings due to the spread of unconfirmed information regarding our artists' scheduling. We apologize to fans who may have been hurt by these issues." The company asked for restraint from the public, stating, "We hope that the situation will not continue to hurt fans due to unverified posts and misunderstandings. We request that speculative dissemination be restrained."
BIG Naughty, who gained popularity through Mnet's 'Show Me the Money 8' in 2019, has several hit songs to his credit, including 'Let's Call It Love', 'What I Once Believed to Be Love', among others.
