2PM's Wooyoung successfully concluded his solo concert at Budokan, known as the 'mecca of performances in Japan'.
On May 24th, Wooyoung of 2PM kicked off his 2023 solo tour, 'WOOYOUNG (From 2PM) Solo Tour 2023 'Off the Record',' with a solo performance at the Sun Palace Hotel & Hall in Fukuoka, Japan. After starting in Fukuoka, he continued to Yokohama on May 28th, and then to Tokyo on June 3rd.
Wooyoung's return to Budokan, about five and a half years after his final performance of the Japanese solo tour 'WOOYOUNG (From 2PM) Solo Tour 2017 'Still I...'' in December 2017, filled the hearts of local fans with excitement. On the day of the performance, the vast Budokan was packed with waves of light sticks glowing as bright as the clear weather. The audience was moved as the melody of 'AmanogawaGALAXY', a song Wooyoung promised to sing when he returns, resonated throughout the venue. Taking in the beautiful, twinkling crowd, Wooyoung greeted the audience with heartfelt words, "This is my first time back since the December 2017 tour. I've missed you all!"
He opened with his debut Japanese solo single 'R.O.S.E,' followed by a parade of hits like 'Going Going,' 'THE BLUE LIGHT,' and 'Chill OUT,' bringing a burst of energy to the stage. In particular, he revealed stages of new songs from his Japanese special album 'Off the Record,' which officially releases today (7th), further exciting his fans. The title track 'Off the Record,' a sweet confession about love that suggests you are the one he's been talking about, melted the hearts of fans with Wooyoung's unique dance moves in tune with the groovy sound. The anticipation for the new album was heightened by the first-time performances of other songs like 'Just be you,' 'From here,' and 'Kimino Betsuno Namae' throughout the tour.
In support of Wooyoung, 2PM member Jun. K made a surprise visit and sat amongst the audience, showcasing their exceptional friendship. The surprise visit from Jun. K, unbeknownst to Wooyoung, further heated up the atmosphere of the concert. After successfully wrapping up the meaningful Budokan concert, Wooyoung will hold two more performances at the Orix Theater in Osaka on June 10th and 11th, moving towards the grand finale of his ongoing Japanese solo tour.
Meanwhile, Wooyoung will officially release 'Off the Record,' a special Japanese album and his third mini-album, on June 7th after a five-and-a-half-year hiatus. To commemorate the release, he will unveil various contents such as the dance practice video for the title track 'Off the Record' and performance videos for the included songs, meeting the satisfaction of the fans.
