MONSTA X's Joohoney Unveils 'Freedom' MV Teaser, Longing for Liberation
MONSTA X's Joohoney left a strong, yet poetic impression.
On May 18th, Joohoney unveiled the music video teaser for 'Freedom', the title track of his solo debut and first mini-album 'LIGHTS', through MONSTA X's official YouTube channel. Even in the brief 20-second video, Joohoney's longing for the freedom he wishes to sing about comes across strongly.
Exuding charisma within the poetic melody, Joohoney captivated attention by presenting vibrant scenes using light. His silhouette, reaching towards the sky amidst the colorful lights, evokes a sense of yearning for freedom. The spotlight pouring onto Joohoney in the darkness gives the impression of him breaking free from the world's views and prejudices, and welcoming the real 'him'.
The title track 'Freedom' is a song that encapsulates a boy's heart flying towards freedom. It showcases Joohoney's versatile positions, from rapping and singing to producing. Particularly, the poetic introduction of piano strings combined with hip-hop sounds completes a reversal structure, offering a sense of catharsis and liberation.
With his positive yet touching voice, Joohoney is stoking Monbebe's (official fan club name) expectations for his first solo album 'LIGHTS', including the title track 'Freedom'. There's a growing curiosity about how the solid skills he's honed through eight years of MONSTA X activities and producing will express themselves when they meet his very own music.
