Famed Japanese Actor Ichikawa Ennosuke Makes a Drastic Decision with Parents Following Reports of Sexual Misconduct
Japanese actor Ichikawa Ennosuke attempted a drastic decision.
On May 18th, local Japanese media such as NHK reported that three individuals, including the Kabuki actor Ichikawa Ennosuke and his parents, were found collapsed in their home in Tokyo.
According to the reports, Ichikawa Ennosuke's father and mother have died, and Ichikawa Ennosuke himself has been transported to a hospital. He is reported to be conscious.
The police revealed that they were alerted around 10 am that day after Ichikawa Ennosuke's manager discovered him in a state of stupor.
When the paramedics arrived at the scene, Ichikawa Ennosuke was found in a room in the basement, and his parents were found collapsed in the living room on the second floor. Notes that appear to be suicide notes were discovered at the scene, and the police are investigating with the assumption that the three may have made a drastic choice on their own.
In particular, the incident has caused further shock as it occurred after Japan's NEWS Post Seven deeply reported on Ichikawa Ennosuke's sexual harassment and abuse of power that morning. The report alleged that he used his power to impose excessive physical contact of a sexual nature on subordinate staff and actors.
Ichikawa Ennosuke's father, Ichikawa Sarunosuke, is also a famous Kabuki actor, and Ichikawa Ennosuke has been carrying on the family business for four generations. Ichikawa Ennosuke has also appeared in Japanese dramas like 'Hanja and Naoki.'
