Monsta X: 'Eight Years of Global Excellence' on their Anniversary Today
Renowned for their unforgettable performances, the 'trustworthy performers' Monsta X are celebrating their 8th anniversary on May 14.
Since their debut on May 14, 2015, Monsta X has reached the 8-year mark, firmly establishing themselves as an irreplaceable group.
From their debut song 'Trespass,' Monsta X demonstrated unique performances and a powerful concept, blazing onto the music scene like a comet. They have since grown into a 'global all-rounder group,' capturing the hearts of K-pop fans worldwide for the past eight years since their 'intrusion'.
Through their continuous growth shown in songs like 'Beautiful,' 'DRAMARAMA,' 'Jealousy,' 'Shoot Out,' 'Love Killa,' 'GAMBLER,' 'Rush Hour,' and 'LOVE,' Monsta X has proven their popularity is still on the rise. Their latest mini-album, 'REASON,' released last January, also affirmed this trend, marking a career-high.
Their popularity doesn't stop at home but is equally strong overseas. Their first full U.S. album 'ALL ABOUT LUV' released in 2020 made an impressive entry at number 5 on the 'Billboard 200.' Their second English album 'THE DREAMING' not only entered the 'Billboard 200' for two consecutive weeks but also topped the fan-voted 'Favorite New Music' category on Billboard. They even achieved the unprecedented feat of participating three times in the 'Jingle Ball' tour, the biggest year-end performance hosted by the famous American broadcasting station iHeartRadio, a first for any K-pop group. Further solidifying their popularity, Monsta X won the 'Global Artist Award' at 'MMA 2022' and the 'Global Artist Award Oceania Division' at the '30th Hanter Music Awards 2022'.
One reason Monsta X has been loved for 8 years is the remarkable abilities of each member. Since their debut album, three members, led by Jooheon, including I.M and Hyungwon, have demonstrated their producing abilities. Starting from their third regular album 'Fatal Love' released in 2020, all three have consistently participated in the albums through self-composed songs, showcasing their abilities as producers.
Beyond their music, Monsta X's popularity is also credited to their exceptional variety show skills and hosting abilities. Through Naver NOW., Kihyun successfully hosted 'PLAY!' for about five months, and Minhyuk hosted 'VogueShipShow' seasons 1 and 2 for about one year and eight months. Recently, Jooheon became the permanent MC of Mnet's 'M Countdown,' and Hyungwon took on the role of permanent MC for SBS's 'Inkigayo.' They've also shown their entertainment skills through their reality show 'Monsta X-Ray' and their self-content 'Mon Eats Also High' on their official YouTube channel, maintaining their presence even during hiatus periods.
Celebrating their 8th anniversary, Monsta X's leader Shownu expressed his thoughts through Starship Entertainment, saying, "I can't believe we've already reached our 8th debut anniversary. I think we've been able to continue as Monsta X thanks to our Monbebe who have been supporting us with an unchanging heart for 8 years. I love you so much," and added, "I'm grateful to the members who have relied on and supported each other for 8 years, and I hope that Minhyuk, who is currently in military service, will return healthy. Until the moment when Monsta X can be active as a complete group again, we will continue to show various activities to be the pride of Monbebe. Please look forward to it."
Monsta X consistently demonstrates the principle of 'separate yet together,' exerting their influence in various fields as a group and as individuals. Kihyun has been recognized as a trustworthy vocalist through his two solo albums, and Jooheon is gearing up for the release of his debut solo album and first mini album, 'LIGHTS,' on May 22. I.M is also pouring his heart into preparing his solo album with a target of June, while Shownu and Hyungwon are also stirring global fans' expectations with news of their unit debut.
Meanwhile, in celebration of their 8th anniversary, Monsta X will hold special events to create memorable moments with Monbebe (official fan club name). They will release behind-the-scenes photos to commemorate the 8th anniversary and display Monsta X's frames at all Photoism Box and Colord branches from the 14th to the 31st. They will also host a live 8th anniversary birthday party on their official YouTube channel at 6 PM on the 14th.
