BTS Suga Flexes Solo Power: Earns 'Gold' Certification from Japan Record Association
BTS member Suga has added another achievement to his list.
According to the Japan Record Association on May 12, Suga's solo album 'D-DAY', released on April 21, has achieved 'Gold' certification (based on April 2023) by recording over 100,000 copies in cumulative shipments locally. The Japan Record Association grants certification based on the cumulative shipment of singles and albums each month: Gold (over 100,000 copies), Platinum (over 250,000 copies), Double Platinum (over 500,000 copies), Triple Platinum (over 750,000 copies), and Million (over 1 million copies).
Earlier, Suga proved his hot popularity in Japan by topping the Oricon 'Weekly Digital Album Ranking' and 'Daily Album Ranking' with the release of 'D-DAY'. 'D-DAY' also reached third place in the Oricon 'Monthly Album Ranking' (based on April 2023).
'D-DAY' is the final installment of the Agust D trilogy series, following the mixtapes 'Agust D' (2016) and 'D-2' (2020). The title track 'Haegum' entered the U.S. Billboard 'Hot 100' chart at number 58 (as of May 6th), and 'D-DAY' climbed to number 2 on the 'Billboard 200', marking Suga's highest ranking for his solo activities. In addition, 'D-DAY' sold over 1.07 million copies on the first day of release (according to Hanteo Chart), becoming a 'million seller' and setting a new record for the highest sales volume on the first day of release among Korean solo artists.
BTS's Suga will continue his 'SUGA | Agust D-DAY TOUR' in Los Angeles on the 14th and in Oakland on the 16 and 17.
