SEVENTEEN Earns 'Triple Platinum' Certification in Japan, Reclaims Top Spot on Oricon
The group SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino) is enjoying unparalleled popularity in Japan.
According to the Japan Record Association on May 12, SEVENTEEN's 10th mini-album 'FML' has surpassed a cumulative shipment of 750,000 copies as of April, earning a 'Triple Platinum' certification.
The Japan Record Association grants certification based on the cumulative shipment of singles and albums each month: Gold (over 100,000 copies), Platinum (over 250,000 copies), Double Platinum (over 500,000 copies), Triple Platinum (over 750,000 copies), and Million (over 1 million copies).
'FML' has reclaimed the top spot on the Oricon Daily Album Ranking (as of May 10th), continuing its long-running popularity. It also reached second place on the Oricon Monthly Album Ranking (based on April 2023), further proving its hot popularity locally in Japan.
With 'FML', SEVENTEEN became the only artist globally to surpass 3 million copies sold on the first day of album release. The initial sales (the number of album sales in the first week after release) set a new K-pop record with 4,552,14 copies.
SEVENTEEN also topped the U.S. Billboard 'Artist 100' chart (as of May 13) for the first time since their debut. 'FML' entered the main album chart, 'Billboard 200,' at number 2 and claimed the top spot in the 'Top Album Sales,' 'Top Current Album Sales,' and 'World Album' charts.
SEVENTEEN will hold the Japanese fan meeting 'SEVENTEEN 2023 JAPAN FANMEETING 'LOVE'' at Kyocera Dome Osaka on the 17th and 18th, and at Tokyo Dome on the 27th and 28th.
