'Unexpected Red Light' for Teen Top Amidst C.A.P's Controversy and Departure
The group Teen Top faces a red light as their momentum picks up again following their appearance on 'Hangout with Yoo.'
On May 11, their agency TOP Media announced the departure of member C.A.P (real name Bang Min-soo). C.A.P recently caused controversy with his careless words and actions during a live broadcast, leading to his withdrawal from the group. As a result, Teen Top will reorganize as a four-member group and continue their activities.
C.A.P's departure is a painful blow for Teen Top, as their popularity had been on the rise recently. The group appeared on MBC's entertainment program 'Hangout with Yoo' in March, drawing significant attention for their first variety show appearance in a long time. Teen Top captured the spotlight with their complete lineup, receiving cheers from 'Hangout with Yoo' members Yoo Jae-suk, Jo Se-ho, and Lee Mi-joo.
During the show, Teen Top performed a medley of their hit songs. After the broadcast, tracks such as 'To You,' 'Girl with Long Hair,' and 'Going Crazy' regained the spotlight on various music platforms, captivating listeners once again.
Additionally, Teen Top announced a comeback in July alongside their appearance on the show. Their comeback, nearly three years after their 2020 special album 'To You,' had fans eagerly anticipating their return. The attention from 'Hangout with Yoo' naturally led to excitement for their comeback, and it seemed like a path of success was unfolding for Teen Top. However, C.A.P's untimely controversy has cast a shadow over their comeback plans. The agency stated, "We will discuss the matter of Teen Top's comeback with the members and provide further updates."
Teen Top is a popular group known for hit songs like 'Rocking,' 'Missing,' 'From Morning Until Morning,' and 'Warning Sign.' They have won numerous music shows since their debut with the EP 'Come into The World' in 2010, marking their 14th year in the industry. Apart from the departure of member L.Joe in 2017, Teen Top has consistently carried out their activities without major issues, earning a reputation as a diligent group with unwavering support from their fans.
In this situation, C.A.P's sudden actions have put a red light on Teen Top's activities, and fans are left feeling disappointed. It remains to be seen how Teen Top will overcome this crisis. Their agency promised, "We deeply regret the situation and will do our utmost in artist management." C.A.P conveyed his feelings through his SNS, saying, "I sincerely apologize to the members and the company family who have been working hard for the comeback, and I hope there will be no further damage."
