Red Velvet's Wendy Tests Positive for COVID-19 Again, Forcing Absence from Bangkok Concert and 'Young Street' Radio Show
Red Velvet member Wendy has tested positive for COVID-19, marking her second diagnosis after last year.
On the afternoon of the 10th, SM Entertainment announced through Red Velvet's fan community, "Wendy took a rapid antigen test today," and added, "The test result came back positive for COVID-19."
SM Entertainment further stated, "Currently, Wendy has halted all her schedules and is receiving treatment at home according to the guidelines of health authorities," and informed that she would not be participating in 'Wendy's Young Street.' SBS PowerFM's 'Wendy's Young Street' airs every day for two hours starting at 8 pm.
Previously, all Red Velvet members had tested positive for COVID-19 between March and April of last year. Wendy's re-diagnosis this year brings disappointment to fans.
As a result, Wendy is expected to be absent from 'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V' scheduled to take place on the 13th and 14th at Bangkok's Thunder Dome.
According to the Korean Disease Control and Prevention Agency's announcement, regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status, individuals in self-quarantine are released at midnight on the seventh day after the specimen collection date (8th day at 0:00).
Meanwhile, Wendy is expected to attend 'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V' in Jakarta on the 20th of this month.
The following is the full statement from SM Entertainment:
Hello,
Wendy felt abnormal symptoms today (10th) and underwent a rapid antigen test. The test result came back positive for COVID-19.
Currently, Wendy has halted all her schedules and is in self-quarantine and receiving treatment at home. Consequently, she will not be participating in 'Wendy's Young Street.'
Our company will strictly follow health guidelines and prioritize the health and safety of our artists so that they can focus on their recovery.
Thank you.
