Lee Seung Gi Embarks on Second Act of His Music Career with New Concert and Upcoming Album
Lee Seung Gi held his '2023 Asia Tour Concert Boy, Walking the Path - Chapter 2' in Seoul from May 4 to May 7 at the Link Art Center Payco Hall in Jongno-gu. The concert was a sold-out event and marked his first musical performance in the city in nearly a decade since his 2013 concert at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Fans eagerly anticipated hearing Lee Seung Gi's songs live once again.
During the concert, Lee Seung Gi expressed his happiness to see his fans as a singer after a long time, saying, "It seems like I've only been active in variety shows and dramas for the past 10 years. From now on, I'll show you more of Lee Seung Gi the singer. I promise to hold concerts more often." He added, "I'm so grateful to see you supporting and loving me like this."
Lee Seung Gi, who had longed to return to the stage as a singer, debuted in the entertainment industry as a singer in 2004 with the release of his debut album, 'The Dream of a Moth.' The song 'Because You're My Girl,' which catapulted him to stardom, also played a significant role in his success as a singer. However, since then, the focus of his activities shifted away from singing, leaving both him and his fans with a sense of longing. This concert served as a stepping stone for Lee Seung Gi to make a comeback as a singer.
In response to his fans' support, Lee Seung Gi plans to release a new album in the second half of next year and hold a concert tour. He revealed, "People around me who are involved in music are thinking about what kind of songs Lee Seung Gi can do best and are creating songs for me. I'm collecting and listening to many songs, which will be unveiled in next year's album."
He continued, "Next year marks the 20th anniversary of my debut. I think it's the starting point for the second act of my life as a singer. Based on what I've experienced during this tour, I want to work more meticulously on next year's album production and performances. I want to meet my fans on a bigger stage." In fact, Lee Seung Gi gave fans a taste of what's to come by performing unreleased songs that are planned for inclusion in next year's album.
Previously, Lee Seung Gi left the agency he debuted with and signed a contract with Human Made, signaling a fresh start. In addition, he married actress Lee Da In in April, receiving congratulations from many.
Lee Seung Gi has not only gracefully handled various issues that arose during this transitional period but also successfully carried out his concert tour, showing a more mature side to his persona. For some time, fans could only see Lee Seung Gi on TV, but now he has come closer to them through his stage performances.
After finishing his Seoul concert, Lee Seung Gi will continue his tour in four countries, including Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines, starting on May 12.
