SEVENTEEN's 'FML' Reaches No. 2 on Billboard 200, Breaking Personal Best Record
Reporter Jae-Hoon Lee - K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN has claimed the No. 2 spot on the US Billboard main album chart, the Billboard 200, with their 10th mini-album 'FML.' This marks the group's highest achievement on the chart to date.
According to a preview article on the Billboard chart published on May 8 (local time), SEVENTEEN achieved this ranking with 'FML,' which was released on April 24. Their previous highest position on the chart was No. 4, which they earned with their repackaged 4th full album 'Sector17' released in July last year. Their 4th full album 'Face the Sun,' released in May of the same year, reached No. 7. As a result, SEVENTEEN has now entered the Billboard 200 top 10 for the third time.
Starting with 'Your Choice' at No. 15 in 2021, SEVENTEEN has steadily climbed the ranks with 'Attacca' at No. 13, and now 'FML.' In total, they have placed five albums on the chart.
'FML' by SEVENTEEN broke various records, including the highest first-week sales in K-pop history with 4,552,140 copies sold.
The North American sales of 'FML' reflected in this week's chart amounted to 135,000 copies, a close difference to the 138,000 copies sold by American country star Morgan Wallen's album 'One Thing At A Time,' which claimed the No. 1 spot.
Wallen's 'One Thing At A Time' has now topped the Billboard 200 for nine consecutive weeks. Due to Wallen's success, K-pop girl group TWICE's 12th mini-album 'READY TO BE,' global supergroup BTS members Jimin and Suga's solo albums 'Face' and 'D-Day,' respectively, and SEVENTEEN's 'FML' all reached the No. 2 spot on the chart, falling just short of claiming the top position.
