BTS RM Expresses Anxiety About 10-Year Anniversary and Upcoming Military Enlistment: 'Honestly, I'm Scared'
RM, the leader of the group BTS, has opened up about his thoughts on his upcoming military enlistment as the group approaches its 10-year anniversary.
On May 5th, RM shared a message on the fan community Weverse, saying, "I'm getting by day by day, living in the present and trying my best to stay focused."
He continued, "These days, I'm discovering and re-evaluating who I am. I have so many thoughts that I want to share, but I often forget them quickly. How are you all doing as we approach our 10-year mark? Are you okay?" RM asked fans about their wellbeing.
He further expressed, "I often, if not always, wonder about your well-being, thoughts, sadness, hopes, and despair, what you believe in now and what you want to believe in. Whether you're enjoying the changing seasons. As I've said many times, it's becoming harder and harder to open up. I'm not sure why. I'm just learning to be silent as I grow older."
RM added, "Many things are sad and then happy, and happy and then sad. Watching old videos and listening to things I've said in the past, I feel embarrassed and find it strange that I can hardly remember them. It's just how I want to be."
Regarding his feelings about his upcoming military enlistment, he said, "Honestly, I'm curious and scared about what it will be like after I return. Time flies, everything changes, and I change too. I don't want to irresponsibly demand or cling to all the love anymore. I want to believe that if I am love, if I cultivate myself with effort, love will naturally come to me."
As for their soon-to-be 10-year anniversary, RM shared, "It's almost been 10 years. As time goes by and the dust settles in our hearts, some things become more difficult. But maybe that's just the weight of our hearts and the hearts of others. That's how much we've shared. I'll continue to live well, always remembering the simple gratitude for what was once a part of me. I know you all will face difficult times, but please take care of yourselves as well."
BTS, which debuted in 2013, will celebrate their 10-year anniversary on June 13th. Meanwhile, members Jin and J-Hope are currently serving in the military, and RM is also preparing for his enlistment.
