SEVENTEEN's Mingyu Finds A Clever Way To Call Hoshi A Baby
There is little doubt that MIngyu is one of the main visuals of SEVENTEEN. However, it looks like the tallest member of the boy group also has a brain to go with his stunning good looks. Kim Mingyu has just used his wits to impress fellow SEVENTEEN member Hoshi. Interestingly, the rapper used a few number tiles to call the leader of the Performance Unit a baby.
In the latest episode of Going SEVENTEEN 2020, the members of the boy group took part in several brain games. One of the games in the episode SEVENTEEN BRAIN SURVIVAL #1 happened to be Rummikub, where the players would place the tiles in consecutive number combinations or same-number combinations of the same color. The first team to empty their hand first would win. Interestingly, the Rummikub game was a tense one but Team Brainstorming (Wonwoo, The8 and DK) won, thanks to Xu Minghao's clever moves.
Although they didn't get to win the Rummikub game, Team Kwon-Kyu-Soo still had fun with the available tiles in front of them. In the outtakes of the episode, it was revealed that Mingyu kept arranging the number tiles for their own amusement. At one point, Kim Mingyu placed four tiles in front of him, Hoshi, and Joshua. He then called for Kwon Soonyoung's attention.
The numbers on their hand were 5959. In Korean, the number 5 is pronounced "o" while the number 9 is pronounced "gu". By putting the numbers together, Mingyu came up with "oguogu" which also sounds like baby talk when someone is trying to make a baby laugh. Kim Mingyu then proceeded to say the numbers out loud like he was talking to a baby while pinching Hoshi's cheeks.
Needless to say, it was a clever and hilarious way to poke fun on Hoshi. However, Kwon Soonyoung clearly thought it was funny and laughed out loud and Mingyu's actions. This certainly proves that Kim Mingyu is clever and funny and is always looking for ways to tease his hyungs.
For now, the members of SEVENTEEN might be appearing in Going SEVENTEEN but the idols are currently in mandatory self-quarantine amidst the Coronavirus outbreak. Nevertheless, the boy group has confirmed that they are taking the time to work on their new album and some have been spending a lot of time in the studio. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
SEVENTEEN's second Japanese single 'Fallin' Flower' will be released on April 1.
