BLACKPINK Jennie Brings Korean Traditional Style to Met Gala, Named Among 'Best Dressed'
BLACKPINK's Jennie was named one of the best dressed at her first Met Gala, candidly revealing her preparation process.
On May 3rd, Vogue's official YouTube channel featured a video documenting Jennie's Met Gala preparations.
With a bare face, Jennie shared her makeup process, expressing her excitement and nervousness for her first Met Gala attendance. She recalled, "I've been on tour for six months. One of our challenges was to be the headliner at Coachella during the tour. We had to do everything from the show to the rehearsals. It was a dream come true experience."
After completing her hair and makeup, Jennie discussed her hairstyle, saying, "I wanted to incorporate a little bit of Korean traditional culture," referring to her choice of a braided updo. She continued, "I'll be wearing Chanel's classic white mini dress. This is my final look," showing her satisfaction.
The 2023 Met Gala, the fashion industry's biggest charity event, was held on May 1 (local time) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year's theme was "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," commemorating the late fashion designer who passed away in 2019.
Jennie, who stepped onto the Met Gala red carpet for the first time, completed a classic yet feminine look with a black ribbon and white flower embellishments below her chest, and a voluminous A-line mini skirt. American magazine W named Jennie as one of the best dressed, along with Rihanna, Jared Leto, and Dua Lipa.
