Fans Persist in Boycotting SHINee's 15th Anniversary Event Despite SM Entertainment's Address of Venue Concerns
Although SM Entertainment has issued an explanation for the choice of venue for SHINee's 15th-anniversary fan meeting, fans continue to boycott the event, demanding a change in location. Ilsan KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 has been deemed unsatisfactory by fans, leading to their displeasure and frustration.
Addressing Fans' Concerns
On May 1st, SM Entertainment responded to fans' concerns with a statement. The agency apologized for the problems and clarified their selection of Ilsan KINTEX as the venue. SM explained that the decision was based on finding a location available on a weekend that could hold at least 5,000 attendees, while also considering the schedules of SHINee members and fans.
SM Entertainment further addressed fans' apprehensions about visibility and interaction between SHINee and the audience. They revealed plans to use moving carts, install screens, arrange tiered seating to improve visibility, and provide a Beyond Live (online live broadcast) option.
SHINee World Continues Boycott
SHINee's fanbase, known as "SHINee World" or "Shawol," declared a boycott, demanding a change in venue and a direct apology and response from the agency. Fans also organized truck protests around SM Entertainment's office in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
Despite SM Entertainment's statement, fans remain unsatisfied, continuing to call for the suspension of pre-sales, a change in venue, and significant improvements.
Fan Club Ticket Pre-sale Launched Amid Controversy
The fan club ticket pre-sale for SHINee's fan meeting began on May 1st at 8 PM (KST). With this event being the first time SHINee members reunite with fans after approximately 4 years and 8 months, careful consideration, conflict resolution, and respect for all parties' positions are crucial. The fan meeting is set to take place at KINTEX on May 27th, marking one of SHINee's initial group appearances following Taemin's recent discharge from the military.
SHINee's Lasting Appeal
Formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2008, the South Korean boy band SHINee continues to captivate fans around the world. The group originally comprised five members: Onew, Key, Minho, Taemin, and Jonghyun, who sadly passed away in 2017.
Renowned for their impressive vocal and dance abilities, the four-member group has released numerous successful albums and singles, demonstrating their enduring popularity. Their dedicated fanbase, Shawol, supports them through various activities and events. Additionally, each member has enjoyed prosperous solo careers in music, acting, and fashion, showcasing their wide-ranging talents. Despite the challenges they've encountered, SHINee remains a symbol of determination and commitment in the K-pop world, captivating fans worldwide with their musical talent.
SHINee's 15th-anniversary fan meeting, "Everyday is SHINee DAY': [Piece of SHINE]," is scheduled for May 27th at Ilsan KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2.
