K-pop Stars Pay Tribute to Late Moonbin: Heartfelt Letters and Emotional Performances
It has been over ten days since the passing of the late Moonbin, but fans and fellow artists continue to grieve and remember him.
Moonbin was found deceased at his residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 19th of last month at 8:10 PM (KST). He was 25 years old. After the sad news broke, the entertainment industry expressed condolences, with music show hosts wearing black outfits and mourning ribbons to commemorate Moonbin. Special tribute videos featuring Moonbin's past activities were released, and the entire cast expressed their sorrow.
Moonbin's younger sister and girl group Billi member Moon Sua also fell into deep sadness. After guarding her brother's wake, she temporarily suspended her activities to grieve. Billi has resumed their schedule as a six-member group, without Moon Sua.
Moon Sua, who was absent from MBC M's "Show! Champion" last week, will not be participating this week either. According to an OSEN report on the 2nd, Moon Sua will not be participating in the live broadcast of "Show! Champion" on the 3rd. Mystic Story, her agency, has only confirmed Tsuki's MC participation, and Moon Sua plans to take more time to heal. Moon Sua followed in her late brother and senior entertainer Moonbin's footsteps as an MC for "Show! Champion."
The mourning for Moonbin continues even after his funeral. Fans continue to visit Fantagio's office, the agency of Moonbin's group ASTRO, to pay their respects. Fellow entertainers who worked with Moonbin also wrote heartfelt letters to remember and mourn him.
Seventeen's Seungkwan wrote, "I will cherish our memories and take care of the people you loved so they won't fade. In our next life, you're definitely my friend again. I'll give you a big hug when I see you. I love you so much, Bin. You did well." VIVIZ's SinB wrote, "Bin, I was happy and reassured to be with you since our childhood, through our teens and twenties. I thought we'd grow old together, but now only I will age. Watch me grow old from where you are, laugh and tease me! When we meet again, let's fight and make up."
In addition, ASTRO members Cha Eun-woo, Sanha, Jinjin, MJ, and Rocky, as well as VIVIZ's Umji, left touching letters that stirred emotions.
ASTRO's Cha Eun-woo, a close friend and peer of Moonbin, teared up while singing "Focus On Me" from the "Racket Boys" OST at a recent fan meeting in Thailand. Cha Eunwoo, who returned to Korea after hearing the sad news during his schedule in the United States, couldn't help but cry as he sang the lyrics that reminded him of his late friend.
Moonbin's close friend, Seventeen's Seungkwan, has inevitably had to adjust his participation in their new mini-album "FML" promotion schedules, including fan signing events, due to his emotional state. VIVIZ's SinB and Umji have also canceled or been absent from their schedules, as they too are grieving.
Moonbin was found deceased in his Gangnam-gu, Seoul residence on the 19th of last month. His funeral was held privately on the 22nd.
