'Adult Matters' PD Addresses Controversy: AV Actresses and Shin Dong-yup's Departure Debate
The two PDs who directed "Adult Matters" will hold an interview to clarify the controversy surrounding the program.
Netflix's variety show "Adult Matters: Japan Edition" features Shin Dong-yup and Sung Si-kyung as they meet people in the adult entertainment industry and explore frank and honest stories about sex and adult culture. The show has been generating buzz since its release on the 25th of last month. However, criticism has been pouring in regarding the actual appearance of Japanese AV actresses on the show.
While adult videos are freely available in Japan, they are illegal in South Korea. Critics argue that it is uncomfortable to see Shin Dong-yup and Sung Si-kyung candidly discussing AV actresses, directors, and the industry.
Although "Adult Matters" is a 19+ content on the paid platform Netflix, opinions have surfaced stating that the show has crossed a line.
Some netizens have even claimed that Shin Dong-yup should step down from other shows like "Animal Farm," "Amazing Saturday," and "True Story Expedition."
Amidst the silence from Shin Dong-yup, Sung Si-kyung, and Netflix, PDs Jung Hyo-min and Kim In-sik, who created "Adult Matters," will hold an official interview at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 2nd.
Initially scheduled for an interview, there were concerns about cancellation due to various controversies and issues, but it will proceed as planned. A representative from "Adult Matters" told OSEN, "There is no talk of the PDs' interview being canceled. It will proceed as planned."
At this event, PDs Jung Hyo-min and Kim In-sik are expected to address the various controversies and issues surrounding "Adult Matters" and the demands for Shin Dong-yup to step down for the first time. As "Adult Matters" is currently a hot topic, all eyes are on what positions the PDs will take.
