BTS SUGA's Solo Debut: 'SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY' Kicks Off
BTS's SUGA has raised the curtain on his first solo world tour.
On the 26th and 27th (local time), SUGA successfully held the first two-city performances of his 'SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY' at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, and the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on the 29th. The entire North American tour sold out early, and the three performances in Belmont Park and Newark drew a total of about 43,000 attendees.
SUGA began the concert with a VCR showing the contrasting images of SUGA and Agust D, and warmed up the atmosphere with an opening stage featuring the title track 'Guitar' from his solo album 'D-DAY,' followed by 'Daechwita,' 'Agust D,' and 'give it to me.' SUGA greeted the audience, saying, "This is my first time doing a solo tour concert, so I had high expectations. I've prepared many stages that I've never shown as BTS's SUGA."
SUGA performed an acoustic version of 'Trivia 轉: Seesaw' while playing the guitar, and sang 'SDL,' 'People,' and 'People Pt. 2.' He then shared, "I want to include more diverse stories of life in my music in the future." SUGA continued to captivate the audience with performances of 'Moon,' 'Burn It,' 'Interlude: Shadow,' a medley of 'BTS Cypher PT.3: KILLER' and 'BTS Cypher 4,' 'UGH!,' 'Ddaeng,' and 'HUH?!,' engaging and interacting directly with the fans.
Playing the piano himself, SUGA sang 'Life Goes On,' immersing the audience in emotions. He also showcased a versatile stage with 'Snooze,' 'Midnight,' and 'AMYGDALA,' utilizing a stand microphone.
After finishing the encore stage, SUGA said, "I had many thoughts while preparing for this tour. I was worried and excited. I've been to many venues, but I wasn't nervous at all before going on stage this time. I thought, 'Let's just show what we've prepared'... Since there are more tours left, please enjoy until the end." He added, "Thank you for giving me the best time. Let's meet again next time," and concluded the concert with 'NEVER MIND' and 'The Last.'
In this way, SUGA proved himself as a reliable and strong performer by perfectly digesting all the prepared songs with flawless live performances and upgraded performances. The eye-catching production and VCRs harmonized with the stage, completing a performance that embraced both SUGA and Agust D.
Meanwhile, SUGA will continue his U.S. tour in Rosemont on May 3rd and 5th-6th, Los Angeles on May 10th-11th and 14th, and Oakland on May 16th-17th.
