NewJeans 'OMG' Surpasses 300 Million Streams on Spotify, Making It Their Second Time
Girl group NewJeans has broken through 300 million streams on the world's largest music platform, Spotify, with the title track 'OMG' from their single album 'OMG.' This is NewJeans' second song to reach 300 million streams, following 'Ditto.'
According to Spotify on April 29 (KST), NewJeans' 'OMG' had been played 312,425,550 times as of the 27th (local time), just 115 days after the song's release.
In the case of NewJeans' pre-release track 'Ditto,' it took 126 days to achieve the same number of streams. 'OMG' shortened this record by 11 days, proving the group's rapidly growing global popularity.
Out of the seven songs NewJeans has released so far on Spotify, five have been streamed over 100 million times. In addition to 'OMG' and 'Ditto,' 'Hype Boy' and 'Attention' have been played over 200 million times, while 'Cookie' has surpassed 100 million.
Meanwhile, NewJeans' 'OMG' and 'Ditto' charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 for six and five weeks, respectively, reaching peak positions of 74th and 82nd (as of February 18th). NewJeans is the only fourth-generation K-pop girl group to have two songs simultaneously on the Hot 100 within six months of their debut.
