BTS Jimin Achieves 'Honorary Graduation' with 4 Consecutive Weeks at No. 1 on Melon's Weekly Popularity Award
BTS member Jimin has proven his unrivaled popularity by achieving an "honorary graduation" on Melon's Weekly Popularity Award.
Jimin secured the "honorary graduation" title by ranking No. 1 for four consecutive weeks on the domestic music platform Melon's Weekly Popularity Award with the title track 'Like Crazy' from his solo album 'FACE.'
"Like Crazy" held the No. 1 spot for the fifth week of March, the first and second weeks of April, and then on April 24, for the third week of April, it ranked No. 1 in the Melon Weekly Popularity Award poll with 43.7 points and 17th on the weekly chart with 25.6 points, accumulating a total score of 69.3 points.
Melon's Weekly Popularity Award, a representative ranking service with over a decade of history in the domestic music industry, has been delivering physical trophies directly to artists since March 2022. Artists who achieve No. 1 for four consecutive weeks on the Melon Weekly Popularity Award can achieve "honorary graduation."
Jimin, who became the first K-pop solo idol to achieve "honorary graduation" on the Melon Weekly Popularity Award since its revamp in March 2022, also set a record for the longest consecutive No. 1 streak for a K-pop idol soloist, with a total of five weeks at No. 1, starting with 'Set Me Free Pt. 2' in the fourth week of March and then 'Like Crazy' for four weeks.
The Melon Weekly Popularity Award combines Melon chart results, which show music performance, and a popularity vote participated in by fans, making it even more meaningful as it transparently displays both music performance and fan support. By capturing both mass appeal and musicality, Jimin has solidified his position as a powerful solo artist.
