Song Ji-hyo's Conflict with Agency: '20 Years as an Actress...Enduring So Much'
Actress Song Ji-hyo's side has revealed their feelings regarding the conflict with her former agency, Uzurocks Entertainmen .
Song Ji-hyo notified Woori Jurocks of the termination of her exclusive contract just six months after joining the agency. She is currently preparing for legal disputes, including a lawsuit for settlement payments.
On April 25 (KST), Song Ji-hyo's side told TV Report, "Song Ji-hyo has been an actress for 20 years. Imagine how serious the situation must be for her to make this decision. This is the first time I've encountered such a case. I can't explain the details, but I can say it's a decision made after enduring and contemplating a lot."
Uzurocks Entertainmen had previously been embroiled in a controversy over unpaid wages but denied all suspicions. On the 5th, regarding the unpaid wages issue, Uzurocks Entertainmen said, "We have completed all settlement payments," dismissing the allegations. They also added that while there were problems in some business divisions, there were no issues in the entertainment sector.
However, less than a month later, it was revealed that the settlement payment was not made when Song Ji-hyo notified the termination of her exclusive contract. Song Ji-hyo stated, "The agency has not paid the settlement amount they should have paid according to the contract," and Uzurocks Entertainmen admitted that they had not paid the settlement amount.
Uzurocks Entertainmen issued an official statement saying, "We apologize for not paying enough attention to the detailed and crucial aspects that we should provide to our affiliated actors due to the rapid expansion of the entertainment field in the early stages of the company." They continued, "Although we couldn't be together for a long time, we had trust and worked together. We express our deep gratitude for Song Ji-hyo's dedication."
Meanwhile, Song Ji-hyo signed an exclusive contract with Uzurocks Entertainmen last October. Uzurocks Entertainmen is home to celebrities such as broadcaster Ji Seok-jin, singer Lee Hyun-woo, Bae Ga, and actor Oh Man-seok.
