EXO's Suho and Other Renowned Performers to Star in the Must-See 2023 Season of 'Mozart!'
The musical "Mozart!" has unveiled its star-studded lineup for the upcoming 2023 season. On the 24th, production company EMK Musical Company showcased the new cast with dramatic teaser videos and photos, capturing attention from fans and critics alike.
The roles of Wolfgang Mozart, a genius composer yearning for freedom, in "Mozart!" will be played by Lee Hae-jun, Suho (EXO), Yoo Hwe-seung (N.Flying), and Kim Hee-jae.
Lee Hae-jun, who has gained experience performing in various theaters, recently proved his potential as a lead actor with his charismatic performance as Tod in the musical "Elisabeth." He also received rave reviews for his role as Kaspar in "Beethoven; Beethoven Secret" and gained attention for his brief but impactful performance on JTBC's "Phantom Singer."
During the "Mozart!" audition, Lee Hae-jun impressed the judges with his vivid portrayal of Mozart's hidden longing for freedom and internal struggles, earning him the first spot on the casting list.
Suho of EXO, who has successfully built a career as a musical actor, will take on the role of Wolfgang Mozart as well. With his previous appearances in musicals such as "The Last Kiss" and "The Man Who Laughs," Suho has captivated audiences with his emotive voice, stable singing, and detailed emotional acting. His performance in "Mozart!" is expected to display an intense presence on stage.
Yoo Hwe-seung, the main vocalist of talented band N.Flying, has gained a reputation as a "next-generation vocalist" thanks to his remarkable singing skills, which include a wide vocal range from deep lows to soaring highs. Yoo has honed his acting abilities in musicals like "Flaming Sonata" and "Secretly Greatly: THE LAST." In the upcoming season of "Mozart!", he is set to bring a fiery passion to his character.
Renowned rock vocalist Kim Hee-jae is making his musical debut as Wolfgang Mozart. With impeccable timing, pitch, and singing skills, Kim has been recognized as an all-around vocalist. He is expected to deliver a flawless performance of the challenging music in "Mozart! The Musical."
The 2023 production of "Mozart!" will be helmed by some of the top talents in the Korean musical scene, including producer Eom Hong-hyun, director Kwon Eun-ah, and musical director Kim Moon-jung.
The musical, written by Michael Kunze and composed by Sylvester Levay, delicately portrays the life of a genius musician and his inner struggle for freedom. Since its premiere in Korea in 2010, "Mozart!" has become a leading production in the Korean musical market, drawing over 2.5 million audience members in more than 2,400 performances across 10 countries worldwide.
"Mozart!" is set to unveil its groundbreaking stage once again starting June 15th at the Sejong Performing Arts Center.
